Laborie, one of Saint Lucia’s most culturally oriented communities is located in the south west part of the island, covering 14.6 square miles. This historic and scenic community of beautiful beaches and lush vegetation also makes it one of the best places on the island to experience nature.
From 1999, residents of Laborie started a strategic development planning process to reduce ad hoc, unplanned development. Our focus is on the overall development of the community including the development of tourism, agriculture and fishing, youth and sports, education and the human resources, and health care and social services. We understand that the success of the community’s development depends on the involvement of all Laborians, as well as other St. Lucians and benefactors.
The purpose of this website, then, is to share information and to keep in touch with Laborians and friends of Laborie, wherever they are, and to present the various organisations involved in the integrated development of this community.
Laborie’ means the bioregion or district of Laborie including the communities of Augier, Banse, La Grace, Gentil, Macdomel, Sapphire, the village of Laborie and other environs.
Laborie est l’une des communautés de Sainte Lucie les plus actives sur le plan culturel. Elle est située au sud-ouest de l’île, et couvre une superficie de 38 km2. Avec sa riche histoire, ses paysages remarquables, ses belles plages et sa végétation luxuriante, Laborie est l’un des meilleurs endroits où entrer en contact avec la nature. Depuis 1999, la population de Laborie a engagé un processus de développement stratégique et intégré. L’objectif est de promouvoir le développement de la communauté, notamment avec le tourisme, l’agriculture, la pêche, la jeunesse et les sports, l’éducation et les ressources humaines, la santé et la protection sociale. Nous savons que le succès du développement local dépend de la participation de toute la population, ainsi que de tous ceux qui sont concernés par notre développement. L’objectif de ce site est donc de partager l’information et de maintenir le contact avec les habitants et les amis de Laborie, où qu’ils se trouvent, ainsi que de présenter les diverses organisations qui oeuvrent au développement intégré de cette commune.
